Futures contracts expire every three months. Just days prior to expiration, futures contract "roll over" to the new contract, and that is called the rollover date. On the contract rollover date, traders are advised to begin trading the new contract.
Traders should be aware that as contracts roll over into a new contract, prices of the new and expiring contract diverge. This is an important point and one that traders need to take into account.
There is an alternative to rolling over into a new contract and that is the "continuous contract". While this video is not inteneded to review the contract differences, it is simply an advisement that contract rollovers occur each quarter.
