KD Pathak and Varun witness the death of a girl, who is run over by a speeding car. KD suspects that the girl was murdered and calls up inspector Dave. A copy of Premchand's novel is found in the girl’s bag. Dave informs KD that the girl's name was Ria and her parents, too, had died in a road accident. KD suspects that the novel contains a clue to the girl's death and begins an investigation into the case. This irks Varun, who wants KD to represent his friend in the court. The bond between KD and Varun is strained as KD refuses to represent his friend. Later, KD, following Varun's trail, reaches a library. Then, the sound of a gunshot startles the security guard, who rushes inside and finds a gun in KD's hand.
