Jenny Omnichord plays the OM108 for the first time (June 11, 2024)

This was it! The big moment! When I (Jenny Omnichord) got to play and hear the OM108 for the first time!! What a monumental moment! As I have mentioned in the other videos, this moment was an incredibly special one for me, as I have been playing the omnichord since the year 2000, have been playing as “Jenny Omnichord” since 2003, and have been begging Suzuki to make a new omnichord for almost fifteen years. They finally did!!! I’ve been told the International Omnichord festival we hosted virtually in 2020 played a big role in finally convincing them, and Darren convinced Suzuki to ship me this one (the 2nd released from the production line, Darren’s being the first). It is modelled to look like their 1984 “OM84” model, and the sounds and beats are a bit more reminiscent of that era, as opposed to the Systems 100, 200M, 300 etc. They brought back the drone/held chord, which I love. And the most innovative feature is a “secondary sound” you can play along with the primary sounds of the sonic strings. You can play the primary, secondary, or both. Most of the secondary sounds are a variation on the System 150-300 series “strings”, but there are few other ones. There are at least three sounds you can play with long/held/sustained individual notes (an essential feature for me). As this was my first time plugging it in and playing it, I really only played the slightest bit. I’ve been digging in deeper since and will play more of a demonstration in the near future.
