Located just a couple of miles apart on the east slopes of Oregon’s iconic Mount Hood, Umbrella Falls and Sahale Falls are two beautiful waterfalls you can easily visit in a single trip. Whether you choose to hike between them or drive, both falls are accessible, photogenic, and surrounded by lush summer scenery.

We’ll start at Umbrella Falls, where a short, paved trail from the Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort parking lot leads to a footbridge with head-on views of the 59-foot cascade as it veils gracefully over a rugged slope of bedrock. The surrounding meadows and summer wildflowers make this a perfect spot for relaxing, picnicking, or taking photos.

From there, we’ll make the quick drive to Sahale Falls, a 78-foot tiered horsetail waterfall plunging into a beautiful pool below. From the historic 1930s arch bridge, you’ll get excellent elevated views—and if you’re an experienced hiker, you can carefully make your way to the base for an immersive waterfall experience.

Whether you’re exploring the Mt. Hood area for the day or just passing through, Umbrella and Sahale Falls are well worth adding to your itinerary.
