Ninja Cop Saizou (NES) Playthrough [English]

Описание к видео Ninja Cop Saizou (NES) Playthrough [English]

A translated playthrough of Kyugo's 1989 action game for the Nintendo Famicom, Ninja Cop Saizou.

Ninja Cop Saizou was released in the west as Wrath of the Black Manta (   • Wrath of the Black Manta (NES) Playth...  ) by Taito in 1990, but the localization job resulted in huge changes made to the original game. For this video, I've translated the original Japanese game's text so that you may see the differences for yourself.

Please note that this is not a hacked ROM. As far as I know, as of right now, there is no way to play this version of the game in English.

Wrath of the Black Manta is well-known for its cheesy anti-drug rhetoric, but none of that is to be found in the original. Ninja Cop Saizou's plot manages to be far more manic and absurd. It regularly leaps between extremes with little regard for things like logic or follow-through, and that's a big part what makes it all so entertaining. Ninja Cop Saizou doesn't take itself seriously in the slightest.

(Random aside: If you like ninja cops, also check out Hudson's Ninja Five-O on the GBA!    • Ninja Five-O (Game Boy Advance) Playt...  )

The plot isn't the only thing that was changed in Wrath of the Black Manta, though - it also had new music, many of the graphics had been redrawn, and it removed a boss and entire stage. The cutscene images are particularly funny in Ninja Cop Saizou for how unbelievably amateurish they are, and did you notice how, in this version, Saizou's legs turn into corny woosh lines when jumps?

If you've ever wondered about this text-heavy oddity, hopefully this video will sate your curiosity. Thanks for watching!
