Biddulph Grange Country Park Walkabout. 26th August, 2024.

About the reserve:

Biddulph Grange Country Park

The 35 hectares were originally part of the larger Biddulph Grange estate. The mixture of landscaped views and natural features was designed by Victorian industrialists James Bateman and Robert heath.

You will find a mixture of landscaped views and natural features. There's a large lake and boathouse which date from 1903 and form a central feature. The site's hydroelectric scheme dates from 1904. A network of themed paths allows exploration of the meadows, parkland and woodland. The site is good for bird watching as you'll find a range of woodland birds here. The magnificent trees provide spectacular autumn colour. The site has a café - The Hideaway - which is managed by Biddulph Town Council. You can find information about the cafe, including opening times on the Hideaway's Facebook page here.

Please note Biddulph Grange Garden is a separate property from Biddulph Grange Country Park and is owned by the National Trust. For more information on Biddulph Grange Garden opening times please visit their website.

Biddulph Grange Country Park - My take on it on the day.

First off. Those bloody brambles!

This is by far one of my favourite walks in the North Staffordshire area, by a country mile. Excuse the pun. I was really pleased to learn it was listed with the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust as it was a good excuse for me to visit again today.

It's a solid 9.5 from me. It would have been a 10 but for those pesky brambles. ;)

Right, the good stuff, and there's plenty of it. Need some refreshments and all the information you need about the reserve, before or after your walk, then there's the "Hideaway" cafe near the main entrance. Check out opening times of course.

Parking up is the best with plenty of room and a really clean rubber type surfaced area.

Access is top notch at least up to the fishing pool area as wheelchair & pushchair tracks were put in some years ago and are always well maintained.

Dog walking is no problem at for all around the entire reserve, bar the "off the beaten tracks" of course!

As I allude to in the video, it's always a pleasure to walk around Biddulph Grange Country Park to hear the sounds of the stream, the birdsong, the smells, and to see the sights of the ever changing scenery throughout different seasons of the year.

A outstanding example of a country park wildlife walk for all to enjoy. I hope you enjoy it too!

Thanks for looking in. Till next time, stay safe, be healthy and take care.
