Sutra Guru Puja 2023

Dear Friends,

Due to Sutra’s imminent Japan Tour of Jaya Ram, it was expected that most of us will not be in Malaysia during the important gathering of students for Vijayadasami. Therefore, we decided to hold this important event before we leave for Japan.

Both the students from Sutra’s bharatanatyam and odissi classes gathered at Sutra last night to partake in the ‘Guru Puja’. We didn’t realise that there will be so many of us and that our dance community is so large!

Besides the traditional prayers and bhajans conducted by senior dancers, Datuk Ramli recited the Nasadiya Sukta (Hymn of Creation, Rig Veda, Mandala 10, verse 129)

We were blessed with excellent weather. There was a palpable atmosphere of camaraderie among the senior dancers who organised the evening. The younger students were ready to have a great time and participated with a sense of innocent wonder at the busy crowd around them.

It was an exquisite night of positive energy and sharing, fitting for a Guru Puja.
