A quick prototype we put together for a tri-fold futon/bed combination. This took about a day to install as we were short on time and didn't want to invest a lot of money prior to our first outing. It has worked well our first week out.

The main downside is that the futon frame does not allow for sliding large items under the bed. We plan to build our own sliding futon/bed frame but still use the Lycksele mattress as it's comfortable and relatively cheap.

The futon is available new at Ikea or there are many on craigslist, FB marketplace, etc.
