How I Get My AC/DC Guitar Tone

I've had quite a few people ask me on my last few videos how I get my AC/DC guitar tone so i figured it would be cool to make a quick video on it!

The AC/DC guitar tone isn't as easy to capture as you'd think - it's a little bit of a contradiction! Clean but with enough bite to make it sound rocky. Plus as I mention in the video, All their albums have slightly different sounds so trying to fine ONE guitar tone that suits all of their songs is tricky.

So for anyone curious this is how i get my AC/DC tone - I just plug my Gibson SG guitar straight into my computer and I found a really cool stock guitar preset right on Garageband called Old School Punk - which to my ears really has a great AC/DC style tone. I tweaked it slightly & that's about it.

I don't think the guitar is a huge factor in the tone but having a Gibson SG probably helps a little - but I'm sure whatever guitar you have will provide a decent AC/DC style tone with this preset as long as you're on your bridge pickup.
