It seems like a little bit of a no brainer, but after experimenting with the surface I wasn't so sure. Would being able to use the whole pencil tip make a difference? It took half as many layers? maybe they don't chew them up as much as I originally thought. I was asked this question so many times, I thought I had better be able to give a proper answer.

Of course this isn't a completely scientific experiment. To give a complete answer would involve testing multiple types of paper and pencils; and I just don't want to have to colour that many blue squares!! But i think the results of this test are pretty informative for anyone interested in working on these surfaces..even if they are not utterly conclusive.

I did not want to skew the results of this test by using different techniques. Had I bought a third blue pencil, I would have tested how much pencil it took to burnish the paper as well. Watch this space!! I will get around to testing this one out and I will post the answer here)
