Here's how to use a Long Line for more enriching walks with your dog!

PRO TIPS!
Handle of Leash - Loosely looped over thumb or finger(s) in one hand

Extra Slack of Leash - Carry the extra slack in your other hand or a little bit in both hands (NOT wrapped around hand). You need to be able to easily let the leash slack out and gather it back in as your dog moves. Let the leash flow through the hand that is opposite of the Handle.
ALWAYS keep the leash as loose as possible.

Slow Stop
Once your dog has slowed and stopped, allow for slack and for your dog to rebalance their body into a neutral position.

Slide
Slowly slide the Handle hand down under leash and toward you to
allow for slight refocus from your dog. Do not shorten the leash tight.

Walk Down the Leash
Move hand over hand down the leash toward your dog. This prevents your dog from moving forward while you get closer and regain their attention.

FingerLock (or ThumbLock) Anchor
Super helpful in preventing the leash and your dog from quickly moving forward. Get used to walking with at least one of your hands using the Finger or Thumb Lock on the leash, so you are not caught off guard and your dog is able to lunge forward. This will also prevent rope burn on your hands should they suddenly lunge forward. Demo Videos:
