Paterson Mayor Jose "Joey" Torres was indicted in March for allegedly having on-the-clock city employees perform work on a warehouse owned by his daughter, but the mayor's mind was on revitalization last week in an exclusive interview with Chasing News.

For a story that aired last week, Alex had requested the city grant him access to Hinchcliffe Stadium, the now-abandoned ballpark that once hosted the Negro League team the New York Black Yankees. Surprisingly, Torres volunteered to give the tour without being asked.

During a two-hour journey through what Torres hopes will become a tourist destination near Great Falls National Park, Torres spoke out for the first time about the charges against him, implying they were politically motivated.

"I'm hoping the people will get to know, I will tell you my faith in God, my faith in country, will ultimately prevail and so it will ultimately take its course," Torres said.

When asked about reports he was considering a plea deal that would send him to jail and out of office, Torres was adamant.

"No, no with all this work to be done?" he said. "I ain't going nowhere."
