Tessa Thompson’s Latest Role | Steve Buscemi’s The Listener

Making its North American premiere at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, The Listener is a stirring testament to the power of empathy in which the entire film follows one character on screen: Beth, played by Tessa Thompson.

Thompson gives an incredibly nuanced and deeply-felt performance as a Phone Helpline worker interacting with unseen strangers (featuring the voices of Rebecca Hall, Alia Shawkat, Margaret Cho, among others) on a night shift. The audience only hears callers' voices as we watch Beth deal with their most private problems, anxieties, and fears.
