Landscape Photography Doesn’t Always Go as Planned, and That’s Okay.

Spring has finally reached Hokkaido! The cherry blossoms already bloomed in Osaka and Tokyo nearly a month prior, and I was eager get out, explore a new location, and photograph spring in all its glory. I was also excited to photograph Mt. Koma-ga-take, a volcano and a marshland surrounding it.
I embarked on a 500km trip to photograph the cherry blossoms and despite some hicups, I managed to walk away with some really beautiful images.

I also talk about my approach to shot selection, hopefully dispelling some misconceptions by new photographers.
