Jikook Analysis: Jungkook's Long Stare At Jimin - JK's 2020 Birthday VLIVE

I got an itch to make a video again, y'all! I see this moment pop up on Twitter at least once a week, but the popular interpretation of the moment that Jungkook is checking on Jimin and only looks away when Jimin smiles is different from what I took away from the moment. I finally decided to sit down and explain what I believe was going on in this moment, why it made me so sad on the day of the vlive, and why I was so happy the next day with the Jikook moments at the "Dynamite" press conference.

It goes without saying, but please know I am not a mind reader, nor a body language expert. These are my interpretations of Jikook's behavior and should be regarded as such. You have every right to come to a different conclusion from the same moment because, at the end of the day, none of us know WTF is really going on. Haha.

I also want to note that when it comes to the body language analysis here, please recognize that just because I attribute some potential "feeling" to a body language cue, doesn't mean every single action is a sign. Sometimes, an eye rub is just someone scratching an itch and it doesn't necessarily have underlying meaning. The idea behind the body language analysis is to recognize clusters of behavior in a certain context. Some of the cues I point out may, in fact, just be the boys scratching an itch. But, overall, I think the clusters of behavior I point out do back the idea that they were stressed out.
