What makes an athlete win? In most sports, the best performance is usually decided with time, length or other easily countable measurements.

But in freestyle snowboarding, it's hard to say what exactly makes a jump good. This documentary follows a team of German sports scientists working with elite halfpipe snowboarders in the Swiss Alps. They have decided to take a challenge to understand what happens when the rider hits the pipe.

Can science and data analysis help riders spin higher, land cleaner, and push the sport forward? We filmed their research process and tests of biomechanics in on-snow training sessions to uncover what makes a perfect snowboard jump.

But do Niklas Huber and Christoph Lechner from the German Snowboard team believe that science can make them win?
