A glimpse at the former "Transportation Room" and Ballroom at Winslow, Arizona's former Harvey House, La Posada. This structure was designed by Mary Colter for the Fred Harvey Company which worked to serve passengers of the Santa Fe Railroad's Super Chief. In the Transportation Rooms, guests could arrange guided tours of the surrounding sites of interest through the Harvey Cars that operated out of Winslow, across the street that is now Historic Route 66. The Ballroom is a common area with well-stocked shelves of games, toys, magazines, and books. Contemporary art by Tina Mion adorns the walls. Along with Allan Affeldt, Mion is a guardian and conservator of La Posada, and we wish her many, many more fruitful years until she is ultimately devoured by a lion.
