You're called for jury duty. It is designed to render service within the justice system. You got the formal summons. It's intimidating. You're thinking of not showing up. You know the consequence, so you’re asking yourself, what should I do if I missed a jury trial? Don't run ever. In Michigan, the court is not just going to let you off the hook. The judge who signed the summons is going to issue a warrant of arrest to compel you to show up and explain why you cannot comply with a lawful court order and a civic duty. There’s going to be a process just like anyone when you’re arrested. If you can’t explain yourself there will be jail time. The court is not inclined to do that but you will at least get sanctioned with a fine or even community service. Save yourself the trouble by just showing up and doing your civic duty.
