Science Sab Kay Liye is a one-year project by Science Fuse and Kiran Foundation, rooted at the DCTO Campus in Lyari. Our shared goal was bold yet deeply personal: to help transform the Kiran community into a vibrant STEAM Hub, with teachers, mothers, and students at its core.

The program was built using the Science Capital approach, which Science Fuse has pioneered in Pakistan—drawing from research at UCL, King's College London, and the Science Museum Group UK. This approach helped us center science in everyday lives, values, and identities of the Kiran Community.

Over the course of the year, we conducted 14 thoughtfully designed training sessions with a dedicated group of 20 mothers and teachers at Kiran Foundation's DCTO Campus in Lyari. Through these sessions, we strengthened their capacity to make STEM education more hands-on, inquiry-driven, and connected to students’ everyday lives. These educators then carried the work forward, embedding regular STEM Karkhanas in their classrooms with 400 students from kindergarten till grade 5 —making science part of the weekly rhythm of school life. These Karkhanas used low-cost materials, making STEM education accessible and encouraging students to keep exploring science at home.

Children were introduced to six inspiring STEAM Safeers, - including a visual artist, a biochemist & an astrophysicist - who brought science to life through their own stories and careers. Our 400 Kiran Students also went on a Science Safari to the TDF MagnifiScience Centre—an experience that made science feel tangible, joyful, and full of possibility. The year culminated in a vibrant Science Mela, led by students and teachers together, and attended by Kiran students, their families, and members of the wider Kiran community.

This milestone reflects what’s possible when science is placed in the hands of communities themselves. It’s a reminder that meaningful change comes from trust, long-term collaboration, and the belief that science truly is for everyone.
