From the album 'Spirit of Cinema' by Sacha Puttnam with The Classic Film Orchestra comes this heartfelt version of Mike Oldfield's 1984 BAFTA Nominated score to The Killing Fields.

Though Oldfield's music had been used in films before this is the first and only time Oldfield has written specifically for the film.

The filmmakers had imagined a synthetic score to underline the war machinery of the story's Vietnamese war setting and always had Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells in mind. After Virgin boss Richard Branson took Mike Oldfield to see David Puttnam, the film's producer; the role of film composer was secured and this incredible score was born.

Mike Oldfield spent six months working on the score for The Killing Fields before going on tour, and when the producers of the film asked for more music to be written, Oldfield contracted an orchestra and choir; three months later the score was finished. The Killing Fields remains one of the very best Vietnam War movies ever made.
