More than 30 years ago, Springbok rugby was a symbol of white excellence in the former Apartheid South Africa. With democracy came a concerted effort by President Nelson Mandela to take a symbol of division and use it to unite South Africa.

The Springbok team has gone on to win four Rugby World Cup titles, and slowly, but surely became the nation's most beloved team on the world stage.

Today's Springbok team accepts its responsibility to be an example of what is possible through unity and diversity with a deep reverence that stays true to the vision of Nelson Mandela, the Father of the Nation. Simon Burke has more.
