The biggest mistake everyone makes with Rubber Guard is they focus on the control coming from holding the foot. Rubber Guard is simply an option once you have secured the Knee Pinch. The Knee Pinch is the high guard. From the Knee Pinch, Rubber Guard is just an option by going to Mission Control, but you can also go to Hindu Control, Gogo, Omoplata. And like I showed, if you can get some angle, you can also Swim for Spiderweb or Take the Back.

Once you establish the Knee Pinch, the Knee Clinch is a nice option to reinforce it and then move to a submission option.
