On June 29, 2023, an officer observed a vehicle without a license plate in Monona, WI. The driver, with two active arrest warrants and a history of assaultive behavior, evaded a traffic stop by accelerating recklessly at speeds over 100 mph. Despite deploying spike strips, the driver abandoned the moving vehicle on foot, causing an officer exiting his squad car to be temporarily crushed.
