Bert Rutten won 2nd prize in the UK Grand Final of FameLab. The 2nd prize was shared with Jason Taylor and 1st prize was won by Kyle Evans.

Bert Rutten, who started his PhD at the age 32, hopes to inspire others with his story that it is never too late to start an academic study. He believes that an appreciation for science is a wonderful way to discover the world. Currently he is developing an ultra-sensitive immunoassays that can detect minuscule amounts of protein in blood.
