RESETTING THE TABLE: A Symposium on Feminist Art and Herstory --- Presentation by Catherine Morris, Sackler Family Senior Curator for the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum: Curating a Feminist Art Center.

Resetting the Table: A Symposium on Feminist Art and Herstory, an all-day symposium held on Oct. 9 in SACI’s Clayton Hubbs Lecture Hall (Palazzo dei Cartelloni), resulted in a wonderful day of scholarship and conversation.

The all-day symposium focused on the role of female artists in society and the ground-breaking work of the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum. Our panel of esteemed art historians, curators, and artists discussed a variety topics relating to feminist art in Florence, including Renaissance, Late Renaissance, and Baroque art, contemporary art criticism, and art-making and curating.

During the morning session, we heard from Dr. Elizabeth A. Sackler, Dr. Maria Antonia Rinaldi, and Dr. Helen Watterson, with an introduction by Dr. Mary Beckinsale. Our afternoon speakers included Catherine Morris, Dr. Mary Beckinsale, and Molly Di Grazia, followed by closing remarks and a reception in the SACI Gallery.

The presentations can now be viewed on the SACI YouTube channel. During the symposium, the presentations were also live streamed on Facebook and can be viewed on our Facebook page.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! We're thrilled with the turnout and the exceptional scholarship that made up the event.
