How to fix Lack of Hydraulic power in Harbor Freight Backhoe

I didn't have any power in my Harbor Freight tow-able backhoe so I decided to take off this control valve. I showed a few of the steps in this video which did end up fixing the issue however here are a few things not mentioned in the video
1) In reality the "first" thing I took out was a rubber ring
2) The "metal" I saw on the screen in the video was just a clip that holds in the screen so don't remove it
3) before putting it back together I decided to crank the engine a few times to get some fluid to come out (don't turn the switch to "on", just pull the cord a few times) This pushed out a fair amount of fluid.
4) when I put it all back together it "came to life" so I think step 3 was crucial
