In this episode, we trace how a small claims case that seemed headed toward a hearing suddenly changed direction at a Judicial Case Management (JCM) session.

Viktor and Maryna expected a clear, documented path: application to a judge → JCM → hearing → trial. Instead, the focus shifted back to an earlier, unsigned settlement and toward a short 30-minute in-court appearance in front of the same judge who ran the settlement conference.

We walk through this turn step by step from the claimants’ perspective: the judge’s written direction, the registry notice, the JCM’s reference to “morning clarifications”, the adjournment of their application, and the regrouping of all “outstanding documents” into a single 30-minute slot.

The episode doesn’t try to assign blame. It asks a different question: how visible are these procedural turns to the people inside the system, and what does “transparency” really mean when key decisions are based on information the parties never see?
