Judge in Karen Read’s Murder Trial Makes Ruling on Protester’s Outside Court House

The Massachusetts woman accused of murdering her law enforcement boyfriend appeared in court on Thursday for a motions hearing. The trial against Karen Read is scheduled to begin on April 16, four months after the originally scheduled date. Read’s defense attorney acknowledged the mass amounts of protestors following her case. Judge Beverly Cannone approved the prosecution’s motion to set up a “buffer zone,” outside the courthouse, but confirmed the requested 500 feet is “excessive”. A formal decision is expected by the end of the week.
