Trees, laydowns, logjams, stumps, logs - they're all woody cover that creates a current break and provides cover in rivers, therefore drawing and holding bass. Here's a quick video on how to use river current to your advantage in delivering topwater lures to the most productive parts of laydown trees and logjams.

This keeps the bait in the strike zone for the longest period while being tight to the cover. He then slips downstream and quickly peppers the backside.
