Sarcoidosis is systemic chronic granulomatous disease
It commonly affects the lungs, lymph nodes and skin.
Any organ can be affected.
Etiology is unknown, probably autoimmune.
Microscopic: non-caseating granulomas, naked granulomas, characteristic inclusions: asteroid bodies, schaumann bodies, Hamazaki-Wesenberg bodies (not very sensitive, not 100% specific).
Treatment: corticosteroids
