■Zakir Hussain, one of the world's greatest tabla players, has died at the age of 73. The Indian classical music icon died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF),a lung disease, at a hospital in San Francisco according to family statement.

■He was born on 9 March 1951 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Tabla Maestro Ustad Alla Rakha.

■Hussain has received four Grammy Awards in his career, including three at the 66th Grammy Awards earlier this year.

■In February 2024,Hussain became the first Indian musician to win three Grammys at the same ceremony,earning awards for Best Global Music Album (For This Moment),Best Global Music Performance (for Pashto),and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album (for As We Speak).

■He Received the Padma Shri in 1988, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2023.
