Audit is always Feared and hated. You can see people suddenly getting busy – filling up checklists – arranging their files and getting ready for the Audit. Two to Three Auditors visit for one to three days of Audit of your site and Head office. The Auditors may not be from the same field – but are from your ISO certifying companies.

Many a times Audits will disrupt your regular schedule – as everybody is busy attending to their requirements.

I am not saying that the certifying bodies Audits are waste of time and money. However you must measure the “Audits” on the basis of improvements it brings to your organisation.

I have attended hundreds of man days of Audits for certifying bodies – for construction and infrastructure projects and always focussed on improvements. However as an outsider – it is difficult to follow up and achieve the results.

Mr. Sawant has rejected this type of Audits. He wants his people and the Auditors to get involved – highlight the problem areas, work out solutions and implement the improvements.

You will find that Mr. Sawant is not afraid to experiment. He wants to simplify the Audit process – remove the bureaucracy and work in the direction of identifying problem areas, work out root causes, improvement solutions, with Time limit.

You also need to Train your Auditors carefully and allow them to improve with each Audit . Auditors need to put in reasonable study of the project to be Audited.
