A Little Polar Bear's Adventures: Knut and the Big Wide World

The most famous polar bear of them all: Knut! In December 2006 a child star was born. The little polar bear captured the hearts of people far beyond the city limits of Berlin. Because Knut’s mother didn’t accept her offspring, little Knut ended up being raised by his caretaker Thomas Dörflein. Knut’s birth alone was a cause for celebration. He was the first polar bear born at the Berlin Zoo but his regional popularity quickly expanded and he gained international fame. The world watched as the little polar bear learned to walk, swim, and play, and fell in love with the adorable furball. Thousands watched as Knut took his first steps in his outside enclosure and thousands more followed his growing up. And even though Knut got bigger, he never stopped loving his best friend and caretaker, especially when it was time to play!
