The main focus of this work is to, design an image fusion method that generates a fused image having high contrast and not having structural distortion. GF is an image smoothing filter that effectively suppresses the gradient reversal artifacts. It can yield visually pleasing edge contours. Hence, GF is used for image smoothing and edge profile extraction. However, smoothed source images should be fused without loss of information and without any incurred structural distortion. This is achieved with the help of NSST. The performance of the process was evaluated by means of the SSIM, Entropy, PSNR, MSE and Time.
