Marion is a city in the county seat of Marion, Ohio. The county was created in 1820 and later organized in 1824. The city is home to several historic properties. The Marion County Court house was designed by architect David W. Gibbs and built in 1884-1886. When renovations began on the court house in 2010, workers found two time capsules. One was dated 1884 and the other was dated 1984. Marion is home town and burial of President Warren G. Harding and First Lady Florence Harding. President Harding was the 29th. President of United States (1921-1923). There house was built in 1890, they lived there for 30 years. The President conducted his election campaign mainly from the homes expansive front porch. His home, museum and library are open for tours. Harding Memorial is on Delaware Ave. in Marion.
