On 28 October 2025, 140 experts joined for a SUERF-BAFFI Bocconi e-lecture on “Key insights from the IMF’s October 2025 World Economic Outlook, Global Financial Stability Report and Fiscal Monitor”.

The global economy is slowly adapting to major policy shifts, in particular on trade, amid persistently high uncertainty and geopolitical tensions. At the same time, technological advances are reshaping economies and slow-moving challenges such as ageing are getting closer to tipping points. How are these forces shaping the outlook for growth and inflation? Which scenarios are conceivable? What are the implications for public finances and the financial system, what are potential risks for fiscal sustainability and financial stability? How should policies respond, especially where policy space is already depleted? The IMF’s trio of flagship publications – the World Economic Outlook, the Global Financial Stability Report and the Fiscal Monitor – shed light on these and similar questions twice a year. This e-lecture brought together lead authors to present key messages of the three flagship publications.
