2005 - 2010 GM Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Chevy Cobalt HHR & Pontiac G5)

Описание к видео 2005 - 2010 GM Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Chevy Cobalt HHR & Pontiac G5)

In this video we will go over how to replace a worn out or damaged stabilizer shaft link. There are three different part numbers for the stabilizer link and I will go over how to determine which one is correct for your GM vehicle. You may need to replace the link when you encounter a clunk or pop kind of noise from the front end when driving over rough road surfaces. You also usually have to replace them as part of a front strut replacement as they are often unavoidably damaged during removal. This part should always be replaced in pairs.

It is quite common for the nut to become fused to the stud on these links from corrosion or just deterioration, such that it just spins in place when you are trying to remove it. In this video I cover three approaches for dealing with this removal problem, and demonstrate two of them.

NOTE: You need to jack up both sides (both front wheels off the ground) as I have done in this video in order to relieve the tension on the stabilizer bar. This makes it very easy to align the threaded studs on the link with their mounting points. Do one side and then the other.

The vehicle illustrated in the video is a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt LS. But the procedure and part layout is the same for all Cobalt years, as well as the Pontiac G5 and Pursuit. The Chevy HHR also uses the same part for its stabilizer bar link.

The eBay and Amazon search links below are paid links, for which I may be compensated and earn a commission, if you choose to buy the parts and tools shown in this video thru them:
