'Bruiser' the Whidbey Island resident elk is in his yearly grumpy mood

People on Whidbey Island are being warned to stay away from one of the island's most popular residents because he's grumpy right now.

"Bruiser," the Whidbey Island elk has been taking his anger out on what he can find recently, including a car. "He's the only elk on Whidbey Island," said Washington State Fish and Wildlife official Ralph Downes.

The wayward elk has been living on Whidbey Island for more than 10 years. Wildlife officials believe he swam over from Skagit County with his herd and never went back.
