Having just left her homeland, Little Amal arrived in Gaziantep, alone and fearful about the long journey ahead, until her path was illuminated by thousands of lanterns held by the communities of the city who had gathered at Gaziantep castle to welcome her with a concert and light show.

This was just the beginning of her extraordinary 8000km walk across countries, cultures and languages in search of her mother and a new home.
