In the late summer of 2004 Uprising would record what would end up being their final 4 song session. This session would receive a very rough mix in '04 and even though all 4 songs would be released on the internet through Uprising's now-defunct website, these four songs never saw an "official" release.

For years, it was assumed that the original track files from the session were lost to the sands of time. But in 2022 Nate, Uprising's singer, discovered a bunch of Uprising records and songs in storage and in there were 4 burned CD's the had the original session files. After successfully recovering the track files Nate went to work giving them a proper mix

A Bitter Harvest tells the story of the horror brought upon the Arawak people by the landing forces of Christopher Columbus which was the opening salvo of violence and colonization against the indigenous people of America. That violence has been either historically minimized or justified - this song stands in opposition to that narrative and serves as a reminder that Christopher Columbus was murderer, a colonizer, and state sanctioned criminal.

Christopher Columbus shouldn't be remembered as a hero nor should he have a day to celebrate his crimes.

The other 3 songs from the session will be released to over time, followed by a limited release on vinyl

Lyrics:
A few hours after midnight, local inhabitants wandered from their Arawak village onto the island beach and began swimming to get a closer look at the unusual ship.

As the Spanish explorers came ashore with their swords in hand, these kind indigenous people greeted them with food, water and gifts.

The Spaniards were marveled by the Arawak's ability to share their personal belongings and live in such an autonomous manner

These Native Americans bear no arms and know nothing of them, Christofo Colombo later wrote of these people

“they would make fine servants,
with fifty men we could subjugate
them all and make them do
whatever we want…”

No gold was found on this expidition
Slaves were taken as compensation
Ran in fear of their enlasvement
Or took the poison to end their pain
Women abused and taken as prisoners
And forced to become sexual slaves
Infants fed to dogs for pleasure
Little remorse, no salvation

Villages smoldered the rubble stands
Little remains of this once rich culture
Endless tears leave a bitter taste
Tragic lives, little future
Sadly removing the kind hearted
Fearful of diverse relations
Just harvest the natives
Build a new civilization

In fifteen fifteen Arawak's thrived
At five hundred thousand strong
By fifteen fifty the numbers shrank
To only five hundred natives
By sixteen fifty none remained
The victims of conquistadors
This country's built on genocide
To kill is the foundation

In memory of all the severed families…
And a forgotten race…
We now celebrate a holiday
in the name of conquest

“They suffered and died in the same mines and other labors
dying in desperate silence
knowing not a soul in the world to whom they could turn for help”
