This patient came to see Dr. Gatgens at Accent Smile Center in 2015 for a tooth ache originally. It was determined that she was clenching and grinding and she elected to have a night guard made at that time. She came back to the office later and the tooth was broken at the gum line. The decision was made for longterm health to extract the tooth and place an implant. After that procedure had healed the patient was still having significant symptoms for her TMJ issues such as:
tooth sensitivity
muscle pain
headaches
migraines
neck issues

After initial screening was completed by Dr. Robert Kerstein and Dr. Ford Gatgens she was determined to be a good candidate for DTR (Disclusion Time Reduction). The patient had extremely high muscle activity originally so the amount of healing and improvement was originally a guarded prognosis. After her initial DTR treatment she followed up and presented with improvement. Her final appointment about a month after her initial DTR treatment was a great surprise!
