Eve Arnold was a pioneering American photographer known for her compassionate approach to capturing people's lives. Born in Philadelphia in 1912 to Russian immigrant parents, she began her photography career in 1946 and became associated with Magnum Photos in 1951. Arnold's work often focused on the human condition, and she gained recognition for her photographs taken during her time in China, which were showcased in a major exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum in 1980. She received numerous awards throughout her career, including the National Book Award for her work "In China" and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Magazine Photographers. Arnold's legacy continues to inspire photographers worldwide.
