A MOST INTERNATIONAL FLUTE FESTIVAL – Variations and Theme for a Versatile Flutist
Composed and performed by Gergely Ittzés

The piece utilizes the rich toolkit of extended flute techniques and possible preparations of the modern flute in order to evoke a big variety of musical languages and ethnic instruments. All this happens on the base of a South American pop song which used to be extremely popular in the late 80s and the 90s. Hopefully many of the listeners will recognize it somewhere during the piece, or at least in the last movement. (For reference you can click on    • Kaoma - Lambada (Official Video) 1989 HD  ) Due to the nature of the quoted musical traditions some of the variations include improvisations, however, most of the notes are determined in the score. It is advisable to check out the original instruments, being imitated here, on the internet.
