The Winter Concerto concludes with a surprisingly elaborate finale. Despite its short length, it offers a series of different delights. Perhaps the most striking of these is a calm interlude in which the solo violin curiously doesn't play at all (1:36).
Even more bizarrely, we get what sounds to me like subtle callbacks to the beginning of the Summer Concerto (starting at 2:06), of all things, just before the fiery and energetic conclusion (2:27).
The variety of events here is probably explained by the movement's description, which is just as elaborate:

"We tread the icy path slowly and cautiously,
for fear of tripping and falling.
Then turn abruptly, slip, crash on the ground and,
rising, hasten on across the ice lest it cracks up.
We feel the chill north winds course through the home
despite the locked and bolted doors...
this is winter, which nonetheless
brings its own delights."
