#TheParable_ofthe_Barren_FigTree_Explained

The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree, found in Luke 13:6–9, describes a man who finds no fruit on his fig tree after three years and orders it to be cut down. The gardener pleads for one more year, asking to give the tree special care, including digging around it and adding fertilizer, before the owner can decide to cut it down. This parable is often interpreted as a lesson about God's patience and the expectation for repentance and a fruitful life.

The Setup: A man plants a fig tree in his vineyard and checks it each year for fruit.

The Problem: For three years, he finds no fruit, and he becomes frustrated, telling the gardener to cut it down because it is wasting the soil.
The Intervention: The gardener asks for an extension, proposing to nurture the tree with extra care and fertilizer for one more year.

Three years- means from the Jordan river to Calvary,Jesus spent exactly three years ministering among the People of Israel, but still the people of Israel bear no fruit nor willing to come to Christ (John 1:10-11, 5:39-40,45-47).

The Conditional Outcome: He suggests that if the tree bears fruit the next year, it can be spared, but if not, it should be cut down as the owner wishes.

The Parable Explained:
Interpreters see the man as God, the vineyard as the People of
Israel and in the land of Judea and the fig tree - house of Israel or individual who is not producing spiritual fruit.

As the story unfolds, we see the vineyard owner expressing his disappointment at the fruitless tree. He has looked for fruit for three years from this tree (Jordan river to Calvary- intensively Jesus carried out His ministry among the people of Israel), but has found none (John 1:10-11,John 5:39-40). The three-year period is significant because for three years John the Baptist and Jesus had been preaching the message of repentance throughout Israel (Matt 10:5-10) But the fruits of repentance were not forthcoming. John the Baptist warned the people about the Messiah coming and told them to bring forth fruits fit for repentance because the ax was already laid at the root of the tree (Luke 3:8-9). But the Jews were offended by the idea they needed to repent, and they rejected their Messiah because He demanded repentance from them. After all, they had the revelation of God, the prophets, the Scriptures, the covenants, and the adoption (Romans 9:4-5). They had it all, but they were already apostate. They had departed from the true faith and the true and living God and created a system of works-righteousness that was an abomination to God. He, as the vineyard owner, was perfectly justified in tearing down the tree that had no fruit. The Lord’s ax was already poised over the root of the tree, and it was ready to fall.

The gardener represents the Twelve Disciples of Christ, interceding for more time for the people to repent and bear fruit.

Dung it means- Coming of the Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of Christ coming on the day of Pentecost (John 14:18-20,Acts 2:1-47.,Mtt 16:18-19,28:20.,Phil 1:19 ,2 Cor 3:17).As the results we know three thousand (3000) Jewish people repented from their sins and received Baptism in the saving name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins, and clothed themselves with Christ (Gal 3:27-29.,Acts 2:38-47.,Lk 24:47).
