Among them is Private Boyce, the film’s main protagonist, who is visibly nervous.

As the plane approaches Nazi-occupied France, enemy anti-aircraft fire lights up the sky. Suddenly, the calm shatters—explosions tear through the fuselage, killing some men instantly. Flames and debris fill the interior as the plane goes into chaos. Alarms blare, and commanding officers scream for the soldiers to jump.

Boyce is forcibly pulled into the surreal nightmare of war. The moment he leaps from the plane, everything becomes disorienting and almost dreamlike. He falls through a sky illuminated by tracer fire, explosions, and burning planes. The cinematography uses long takes and a first-person perspective to draw the viewer directly into the chaos.

As he descends, we see flaming wreckage and bodies tumbling past him, emphasizing the horror and randomness of death in war. The camera remains tight on Boyce, heightening the feeling of freefall into hell. The sound design alternates between muffled silence and deafening booms, adding to the surreal horror.

He crashes into a lake and struggles to the surface, gasping for air in the eerie silence that follows. The contrast between the chaos in the air and the quiet, almost serene woods is jarring and sets the tone for the darker, more supernatural horrors to come.
