START New York-Long Island is an early-phase cancer clinical trial center located near the border of New York City (Queens) and Long Island. The Center is now part of START’s strategic partnership with Northwell Health, the largest health system in New York State.

Our facility, opened in 2025, is located inside Northwell’s R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center, which is home to hundreds of Northwell Cancer Institute specialists, cancer treatment centers, diagnostic imaging and laboratory facilities, and across the street from R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Under the leadership of Dr. Geraldine O’Sullivan Coyne, a former National Cancer Institute investigator and former PI at START Dublin, START New York-Long Island offers patients and sponsors an exceptional combination of clinical excellence and infrastructure. The unit features dedicated infusion bays, private exam rooms, an on-site pharmacy, pharmacokinetic lab, and access to facilities for inpatient observation and biopsy procedures—creating a fully equipped environment for complex Phase I studies.

The site provides patients throughout Long Island, Queens, and the greater New York metro area with access to cutting-edge cancer trials close to home.
