Описание к видео Мы построили ЭТО с нуля! (Stone Work and Patio Build Timelapse)

This large 4 month project involved many hours of planning and preparation to complete. The homeowners wanted to match the look and style of their home. The property was built in the 1920's by skilled Italian masons. They used a unique pattern style which I would say is a mix between square and rectangle and ashlar with bantered ends. The perfectly matching stone was quarried just miles away from the property at the historic Johnson's quarry in Rockport MA. The type of stone used for the project is called Rockport Granite. It is a beautiful stone with shades of greys, tans, pinks, and chocolate colors.

We started the project with the greenhouse. We prepped and faced the concrete foundation with Rockport granite. Each stone had to be placed perfectly so that they could erect the greenhouse frames and glass later down the line. We then installed custom fabricated Rockport granite cap stones to the top of the stone for a seamless watertight finish.

The next step in the project was to build a large radius wall. We had to keep in mind the end finish elevations for the whole patio. This involved many hours of planning to ensure everything worked at the end. We used a homemade trammel system that we came up with which used a vertical pole and wire cable. With this system we could scribe the stones and build a perfect radius. We used the trammel system throughout the whole project till the very end. With a curved wall, you need a curved cap stone. We scribed a template using the trammel system for the fabricators so they could custom make the cap stones using the same Rockport granite. We then Installed the caps and added foundation coating below grade to finish the radius wall.

During the radius wall build, we made a template for the large Rockport granite steppers so they could be fabricated in time for the next phase. After the radius wall was completed, we found the proper elevations and built a large curved two-tiered foundation for the steppers to rest on. This had to be built perfectly beforehand as the steppers were still on order and the pit had to be filled in. Once we received the steppers, we installed them using old school techniques and good old fashioned manpower. We used the trammel system for a perfect radius and fit.

We then started the bluestone patio. The pit was filled with the proper specified material and leveled off with stone dust. We installed each pattern bluestone with care making sure each stone was properly pitched and joints were broken. The floor of the greenhouse called for blue stone as well. We installed a drainage system and pitched all the bluestone to the drain.

During the installation of the blue stone patio, we built a column at the end of the steps with a custom fabricated cap stone. We then installed handmade Rockport granite cobble stones to edge the radius of the patio.

To finish off the project we created a new walkway leading to the patio and greenhouse using old walkway stones reclaimed from the property. We matched the same look as all the other stone walkways on the property and filled the joints with grass. We then removed and re-laid an existing stone walkway that led to a circle and brought it back to the original state. While we were digging out the walkway and circle, we noticed old water pipes that led to the center of the circle. We learned originally there had once been a beautiful fountain on that very spot. With this in mind, we wanted to add a finishing touch to the project. We decided to hand sculpt a custom stone birdbath. For the base of the birdbath, we picked a stone that was half blueish grey and half tan - This symbolizes the land and sea as the property borders the ocean on multiple sides. We installed the one of a kind bird bath in the very spot that once held a beautiful fountain years ago. With this project we wanted to bring the essence of the past to the present with a modern twist.
