Eid Celebrations in Maldives | Eid Al-Adha | Bakra Eid | Eid Vlog in Maldives 2024

Maldives has prepared for a colorful festivities and the tradtional activities in the Maldives to mark the Festival of Sacrifice, From Bodu Hulhu (Bonfire Night) to Fireworks, 16th June marks Eid Al-Adha, a four-day celebration to commemorate Abraham that God commanded him to sacrifice a Sheep insthead of his first-born son Ishmael.

Veduma Dhiyun is a trational call to people to gather the Ruling places ie: City Council and Island Council to commemorate the Festival.

Bodu Hulhu or Bonfire Night is a trational signal that Eid is here, usually Bodu Hulhu helds on Chand Raat (Moon Night) to announce that Eid is here right after the rulers sighted the Moon and burns a bonfire with dried Coconut plam leaves.

Maali Neshun or Eid Parade is a traditional form of dance performed by a group of people painted and dressed up as evil spirits and ghosts. This tradition is based on an ancient folklore in which a Bodu Mas (A big fish) along with Maali (Ghosts) had come out from the sea and a struggle to catch this fish ensued.

Bodu Mas Beynun or "Big Fish Catching" / "Big Fishing" is a sort of play, Its characters consisted Keyolhube (fishermans) and Edhurube (learned man or sheikh) whom were trying to catch a Big Fish (BoduMas). It believes that they catch a big fish so that they can celebrate and enjoy Eid Al-Adha. besides that's the Name of "Big Eid" adapted because the name of Big Fish.
