Making the Udu base using a mold. How to form a slab without a slab roller. If you don't have a rolling pin, a heavy cardboard tube could also work. If you don't have something like that, pressing with your palm into the clay will form a slab.

Materials:
Bowl or rounded shape
Clay
Scraper
Saran wrap (or cheese cloth, tissue paper, muslin. Soft and flexible material.)
Board
Newspaper
Scoring tool (fork, needle tool, comb, etc.)
Slip
Optional: polished stone or spoon for burnishing
stamps or objects to create texture
